E-mail Router System Requirements

This section describes the system requirements to install and run Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online E-mail Router. E-mail Router Setup consists of two main components: E-mail Router and the Rule Deployment Manager. The E-mail Router component installs the E-mail Router service and E-mail Router Configuration Manager, which is used to configure the E-mail Router. The Rule Deployment Manager component deploys the rules that are used to forward tracked e-mail messages to the forward mailbox.

E-mail Router software requirements

To install and run the E-mail Router or Rule Deployment Manager, any of the following Microsoft Windows operating systems is required.

·         Windows Server 2008 (all editions)

·         Windows Server 2003 (all editions)

·         Windows Vista (all editions)

·         Windows XP Professional SP2

·         Windows XP Tablet PC Edition SP2

·         Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

Important

·         Windows XP Media Center Edition is not supported for installing and running E-mail Router.

·         The 32-bit version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM E-mail Router is not supported on a Windows 64-bit operating system, in Windows- (32-bit) -On-Windows (64-bit) (WOW) mode.

Exchange Server

Microsoft Exchange Server is only required if you want to use E-mail Router to connect to an Exchange Server e-mail messaging system. To do this, the E-mail Router can be installed on any of the previously-mentioned Windows or Windows Server operating systems that have a connection to Exchange Server, which must be running one of the following Exchange Server editions:

·         Exchange Server 2003 Standard Edition SP2

·         Exchange Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP2

·         Exchange Server 2007 Standard Edition

·         Exchange Server 2007 Enterprise Edition

Important   Exchange 2000 Server editions are not supported with cited versions of Microsoft Dynamics CRM E-mail Router and Rule Deployment Manager herein.

MAPI

The Rule Deployment Wizard component must be installed on a computer that is running on any of the previously-mentioned Windows or Windows Server operating systems, and that has the Exchange Server Messaging API (MAPI) client runtime libraries installed. You can download the MAPI client runtime libraries from the Microsoft Download Center.

.NET Framework 3.0

If not already installed, E-mail Router Setup installs Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 on the computer where you install E-mail Router.

POP3/SMTP

In addition to Exchange Server, POP3 e-mail systems are supported for incoming e-mail message routing.

Important

·         When you use the Forward Mailbox option on the User form, the POP3 e-mail server must provide support where an e-mail message can be sent as an attachment to another e-mail message. In addition, the e-mail server must support rules that allow messages to be automatically forwarded.

·         SMTP is the only transport protocol that is supported for outgoing e-mail message routing.

If you install the E-mail Router to connect to a POP3 and SMTP server, the following standards are required:

·         POP3: RFC 1939

·         SMTP: RFC 2821 and 2822

E-mail Router Software Upgrade Is Not Supported

This section describes issues about an E-mail Router software upgrade.

E-mail Router Upgrade Is Not Supported From Pre-release Versions

You cannot upgrade pre-release versions of the E-mail Router, such as Microsoft Dynamics CRM Live Early Access II (EA II) E-mail Router. Before you run E-mail Router Setup, you must uninstall the pre-release version.

You must remove Microsoft Dynamics CRM-Exchange E-mail Router before you run Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online E-mail Router Setup

Earlier versions of the E-mail Router cannot be upgraded to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online E-mail Router. If you are installing the E-mail Router on a computer that has a previous version, such as Microsoft Dynamics CRM-Exchange E-mail Router, you must first remove the previous version before you run E-mail Router Setup.

E-mail Router Setup Known Issues

This section describes known issues that may occur when you install Microsoft Dynamics CRM E-mail Router.

Visual C++ 2005 runtime appears twice in the list of required components during the 64-bit version of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM E-mail Router Setup

During the 64-bit version of E-mail Router Setup, Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 runtime appears twice in the list of required components. This behavior is expected because both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Visual C++ 2005 runtime are being installed.

You receive the error message “The Microsoft Exchange MAPI subsystem is not installed on this system” when you try to install the Rule Deployment Wizard on Windows Vista (64-bit version only) or Windows Server 2008

When you try to install the Rule Deployment Wizard component during E-mail Router Setup on a computer that is running Windows Vista (64-bit) or Windows Server 2008, you may receive the error message “The Microsoft Exchange MAPI subsystem is not installed on this system.” This error message appears even if you have installed the Exchange Server MAPI subsystem. This issue occurs because there is a problem whereby Exchange Server MAPI subsystem Setup does not correctly install the MAPI subsystem. An update for this issue is currently under investigation by the Exchange Server product team. To work around this issue, select one of the following options:

·         Install Office Outlook 2007 on the computer. Then, run E-mail Router Setup again.

·         Install the Rule Deployment Wizard on one of the other supported operating systems, such as Windows Vista (32-bit versions), Windows Server 2003, or Windows XP.

You receive a “GetAuthState( )” error message when you try to connect to a Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online deployment in Rule Deployment Wizard

This error message can be received if you enter an incorrect password when you try to select a Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online deployment in Rule Deployment Wizard. To work around this issue, enter the correct password.

E-mail Router Feature Area Known Issues

This section describes known issues that may occur when using certain feature areas of the E-mail Router.
