KNOWN ISSUES ------------------- 2.1 Installation 2.1.1 Connecting to Microsoft Exchange Server with Microsoft Outlook XP To install Live Search Maps for Outlook, Outlook XP must be actively connected to a server running Exchange Server or it must be set to work offline. If an Exchange Server connection is not detected during installation, the message "Your Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable" appears. To cancel and roll back your installation, in the message, click Work Offline or Cancel. To continue with the installation, connect to a server running Exchange Server, and then click Retry; or set Outlook XP to Work Offline, through the File menu, and try to install again. 2.1.2 Installing for multiple users Install Live Search Maps for Outlook for each Windows user on the computer. A user with a new Windows operating system profile needs to install Live Search Maps for Outlook separately in order to use the Live Search Maps for Outlook functionality. Users gaining access to their Outlook profile on a second computer also need to install Live Search Maps for Outlook on the second computer in order to use the Live Search Maps for Outlook functionality. 2.1.3 Configuring the Outlook default appointment and request form Live Search Maps for Outlook overrides the Outlook default appointment and meeting request form. If you are not using the Outlook default appointment and meeting request form, Live Search Maps for Outlook functionality will not be available. >>>To configure Outlook to use the default appointment and meeting request form: 1 Open Outlook and go to the Calendar view. 2 Under My Calendar, right-click the Calendar folder, and then select Properties. 3 On the General tab, in the 'When posting to this folder, use' box, select IPM.Appointment. Important: Configuring Outlook to use the default appointment and meeting request form may interfere with other add-ins that rely on custom forms. If you are uncertain about changing this configuration, contact your administrator. 2.2 Usage 2.2.1 Outlook unexpectedly quits upon start After installing Live Search Maps for Outlook, on rare occurrences, Outlook quits the first time you start it. This is an Outlook issue that is caused when programmatically creating items. After detecting this condition, Outlook prompts you to read "Outlook 2003 unexpectedly quits after an item is created by programmatically using the CreateItemFromTemplate method" on the Microsoft Help and Support Web site at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=913707. A hotfix that fixes this issue is included in the Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 post-Service Pack 2 hotfix package, available on the Help and Support Web site at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913695/. This condition may only occur the first time you start Outlook after installing Live Search Maps for Outlook. You can then choose to install the hotfix or restart Outlook. The condition will not occur again. 2.2.2 Meeting requests forwarded from Outlook XP don’t show the Location tab When using Outlook XP, forwarded meeting requests do not include the Location tab. Even though the recipient still receives the meeting location information, any travel information is lost. As a workaround, be sure to insert the map and directions in the body of the message. For step-by-step instructions, see "Adding the Map and Directions to the Message" in Live Search Maps for Outlook Help. 2.2.3 Sending meeting requests to another Exchange Server domain Sending meeting requests to another Exchange Server domain (for example, a remote corporate site or another company that is also using Exchange Server) removes some or all of the Live Search Maps for Outlook travel information contained within it. Recipients still receive the appointment location information but may not receive the travel information. As a workaround, to send meeting requests to recipients in other Exchange Server domains, insert the map and directions in the body of the message. For step-by-step instructions, see "Adding the Map and Directions to the Message" in Live Search Maps for Outlook Help. 2.2.4 Adding travel time to recurring appointments Travel time cannot be added to recurring appointments or instances of a recurring appointment. 2.2.5 Mapping with MapPoint 2006 (North America) Live Search Maps for Outlook enables you to map locations and get directions by using MapPoint 2006 (North America). MapPoint 2006 (North America) must be run at least once for every user and the End-User License Agreement must be accepted before Live Search Maps for Outlook can use it. 2.2.6 Using an evaluation version of MapPoint 2006 (North America) Live Search Maps for Outlook enables you to save appointments that have been mapped with the MapPoint 2006 (North America) evaluation software while your trial period is still in effect. After the trial period has expired, you must uninstall the trial software to open any appointments that you saved in this mode. 2.2.7 Switching from bird's-eye view to Microsoft Virtual Earth 3D view removes an existing route Switching to Virtual Earth 3D view when viewing a route in bird's-eye view removes the existing route highlight from the map; although the itinerary is still available you need to click Get Directions again to see the route highlight again. 2.2.8 Finding a location or getting directions in bird's-eye view Finding a location or getting directions while the map is showing in bird's-eye view, will reset the map to road view while still resolving the correct location or directions. In order to switch back to bird's-eye view, click the bird's-eye view button in the map's navigation bar while browsing a location that supports it. 2.2.9 Setting a location by right-clicking on a bird's-eye view map Setting a location by right-clicking on the map while in bird's-eye view does not correctly set the Start or Appointment location to the desired location. To accurately set a location by right-clicking on the map, switch to road, aerial or hybrid views. 2.2.10 Right-clicking on a 3D view map Bringing up the context menu by right-clicking on a 3D view map is not supported. To bring up the context menu, switch to 2D view. 2.2.11 Travel time appointment is not removed after accepting an updated meeting request When accepting an updated meeting request, an existing travel time appointment associated with this meeting request is not deleted automatically. If this travel time appointment is no longer needed, you can delete it by selecting it and clicking the Delete button. 2.3 Configuration 2.3.1 Using a non-Exchange Server account Sending meeting requests created with Live Search Maps for Outlook through a non-Exchange Server mail account removes some or all of the Live Search Maps for Outlook travel information contained within it. Recipients using POP3 and HTTP accounts, such as MSN Hotmail may not receive the travel information. If you are sending a meeting request that you created with Live Search Maps for Outlook through a non-Exchange Server e-mail account and you want the recipients to receive your travel information, be sure to insert the map and directions in the body of the message. For step-by-step instructions, see "Adding the Map and Directions to the Message" in Live Search Maps for Outlook Help. 2.3.2 Connecting Outlook to an Exchange Server over the Internet Sending and receiving meeting requests while Outlook is connected to an Exchange Server over the Internet (using HTTP) removes some or all of the Live Search Maps for Outlook travel information contained within it. Recipients may not receive the travel information. Be sure to insert the map and directions in the body of the message if you are sending the following: - Meeting requests created with Live Search Maps for Outlook while Outlook is connected to an Exchange Server over the Internet - Travel information to any meeting recipients who have Outlook connected to an Exchange Server over the Internet For step-by-step instructions, see "Adding the Map and Directions to the Message" in Live Search Maps for Outlook Help. 2.3.3 Receiving meeting requests on a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 account Receiving meeting requests on an Exchange Server 2007 account may remove all of the Live Search Maps for Outlook travel information contained within it. In order to receive travel information, be sure to insert the map and directions before sending the meeting request, or turn off the Calendar Assistant feature on the recipient's Exchange Server. The recipient can also turn off Calendar Assistant by accessing their mail account through Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access, bringing up the Calendar tab on the Options page and clearing all checkboxes under Automatic Calendar Processing. 2.4 Compatibility 2.4.1 Using Multilingual User Interface Packs and Language Interface Packs Live Search Maps for Outlook does not support user interface languages other than U.S. English. If you currently have a Windows Multilingual User Interface Pack, Office Multilingual User Interface Pack, or Office Language Interface Pack installed, and your user interface language is set to something other than U.S. English, Live Search Maps for Outlook will not function properly. This may also impact Outlook functionality. In order for Outlook to work normally, set your user interface language to U.S. English or uninstall Live Search Maps for Outlook. See section 2.5.1 for instructions on how to uninstall Live Search Maps for Outlook. 2.4.2 Live Search Maps for Outlook is not listed as a COM add-in in Outlook XP When installed in Outlook XP, Live Search Maps for Outlook is not listed in the Outlook COM Add-Ins Manager; this is an existing implementation limitation. In order to remove Live Search Maps for Outlook as a COM add-in, uninstall Live Search Maps for Outlook. See section 2.5.1 for instructions on how to uninstall Live Search Maps for Outlook. 2.4.3 Uninstalling Windows Internet Explorer 7 causes the itinerary pane to appear in the wrong location Rolling back from Internet Explorer 7 to Internet Explorer 6 may cause the Live Search Map for Outlook itinerary pane to draw on the wrong side of the Location tab. To work around this issue, you need to repair your Microsoft Office installation. 2.4.4 Internet Explorer 7 security settings cause the map to fail to render Setting Internet Explorer 7 Internet zone security setting to High prevents Live Search Maps for Outlook from displaying the map; this is a security feature in Internet Explorer. To see the map in Live Search Maps for Outlook, set your Internet zone security setting to Medium-High or below, or check with your system administrator. 2.4.5 Downgrading to an earlier version of Outlook Uninstalling Outlook and then installing an older version of Outlook causes Live Search Maps for Outlook to stop working. To fix this issue, you must clear the managed forms cache by following these steps: 1 In Outlook, click Tools, and then click Options. 2 On the Other tab, click Advanced Options, and then click Custom Forms. 3 In the Options dialog box, click Manage Forms. 4 In Forms Manager, click Clear Cache, and then click Close. 5 Click OK to close the three open dialog boxes. 2.5 Uninstalling 2.5.1 Uninstalling Live Search Maps for Outlook To uninstall Live Search Maps for Outlook from Windows XP or Microsoft Windows Server 2003, open the Add/Remove Programs control panel, click Uninstall on the Live Search Maps for Outlook entry, and follow the instructions on the screen. To uninstall Live Search Maps for Outlook from Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, open the Programs and Features control panel, select Live Search Maps for Outlook entry, click Uninstall, and follow the instructions on the screen. 2.5.2 Travel time appointments are not removed for multiple profiles Uninstalling Live Search Maps for Outlook makes the program unavailable for all users who are using the same computer even if those users installed Live Search Maps for Outlook themselves. Users who want to continue using Live Search Maps for Outlook need to reinstall the program. During the removal process, appointment and meeting requests that users created with Live Search Maps for Outlook are not deleted, but are converted to use the default Outlook appointment and meeting request form. This conversion removes the Location tab and any travel time appointments that were created for only the Outlook and Windows profile of the users currently logged on. Users with other Outlook and Windows profiles need to complete the following steps. >>>To configure Outlook to use the default appointment and meeting request form: 1 After uninstalling Live Search Maps for Outlook, open Outlook. 2 In Outlook, click Tools, and then click Options. 3 On the Other tab, click Advanced Options, and then click Custom Forms. 4 In the Options dialog box, click Manage Forms. 5 In Forms Manager, under Personal Forms, select Appointment, and then click Delete. 6 When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion. 7 Click Clear Cache, and then click Close. 8 Click OK to close the three open dialog boxes. 2.5.3 Connecting to Microsoft Exchange Server To uninstall Live Search Maps for Outlook, Outlook must be actively connected to a server running Exchange Server. If an Exchange Server connection is not detected during uninstall, the message "Your Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable" appears. To continue with the uninstall, connect to a server running Exchange Server, and then click Retry.
